El Paso, TX (January 12, 2016) - The Mayor and City Council of El Paso proclaimed January 12, 2016 to be “Chaplain Sam Faraone Day”. Mr. Faraone has worked with Cima Hospice (“Cima”) as chaplain for 9 years. In addition to his hospice duties, he has delivered the opening invocation for El Paso City Council meetings for 12 years. Jordan Health Services (“Jordan”) and its hospice partner, Cima, are honored to work alongside this remarkable man.
A pastor for over 25 years, Sam Faraone works closely with Cima hospice patients, caregivers and families, providing for the spiritual needs of dying patients and their loved ones and was voted employee of the year by his Cima and Jordan peers. Sam also volunteers his time to officiate graveside services for veterans as well as for the homeless. He has worked with police, fire, and sheriff’s departments and the DEA for pastoral and counseling and crisis intervention services and founded a nonprofit ministry. Former Police Chief Carlos Leon commented, “It’s the people delivering service to our city that make a difference. Sam Faraone’s service to El Paso has touched so many lives in this community including my own family.” Michele Aboud, administrator of CIMA Hospice added, “Sam personifies what it means to be selfless, giving, and is a blessing to all those he encounters. His countless hours of volunteerism and service are an inspiration. Our city is better by virtue of this one man.”
